3/4 HP Pool Pumps
The swimming pool pump is the most important piece of equipment in your pool system. They’re responsible for keeping a high water quality, spreading chemicals, and circulating the pool water to keep it free of debris. Although they’re extremely important, they’re energy hogs. That’s why Pool Express offers ¾ HP swimming pool pumps.
HP refers to the amount of horsepower a pool pump uses, and a swimming pool pump that runs on ¾ HP uses much less energy compared to other options. Swimming pool pumps are available in these sizes: ¾ HP, 1 HP, 1.5 HP, and 2 HP. Swimming pool pumps with ¾ HP are perfect for most pool sizes and can save a large amount of energy in the long run.
Calculating the right size pump you need is extremely important, to efficiently circulate your water and use the least amount of energy as possible. Use this example and fill in your own swimming pool’s gallons. And remember, the pool volume (gallons) multiplied by two equals daily gallons required for a 12 hour turn.
EX: For a pool that holds 15,000 gallons of water.
15,000 gallons x 2 turnovers/day= 30,000 gallons/day
Circulate 30,000 gallons of water every 24 hours. How many gallons per minute, or GPM, is this?
30,000 gallons/ 24 hours = 1,250 gallons/hour
1,250 gallons per hour/ 60 minutes = 20.8 gallons per minute
A 15,000 gallon swimming pool needs about 20 GPM output if you want to run it 24 hours a day. Plug in your own pool’s gallons to determine if a swimming pool pump that uses ¾ horsepower is the best option for you.
