Above Ground Filters
The pool filter is an essential piece of equipment for your above ground swimming pool. With the assistance of your swimming pool pump, the above ground pool filter is responsible for circulating water throughout your pool, aiding in chemicals and chlorine mixing, and most importantly, removing dirt and debris. The more basic, smaller design is typically a fraction of the cost of inground pool filters.
Swimming pool filters for above ground pools have fewer feet of plumbing and piping. They’re much smaller, which means they’re not able to push or pull large gallons of water through multiple skimmers, suction lines or jets. However, their smaller size means above ground swimming pool filters are much easier to install and maintain than their inground counterparts. And they can provide the same water clarity and efficiency as inground filters. Filters for both inground and above ground pools perform the same function. The pump draws water from the pool through the skimmer, where the water is pumped through the swimming pool filter tank and its media. Then the clean, filtered water is returned to your pool.
There are three different types of filters for above ground pools. Sand filters incorporate a bed of sand to remove particles from your pool water. The water is pushed through the fine grains of sand to filter out dirt and debris. Cartridge filters for above ground pools are more basic and easy to maintain, while Diatomaceous Earth (DE) filters use the exoskeletons of diatoms to sieve out debris. Keep in mind that sand and DE filters require backwashing when they need to be cleaned, and cartridge filters must be disassembled and washed separately.
Filters for above ground pools are usually less complicated than inground pool filters. Although they push and pull fewer gallons, they are much easier to install and maintain. All of the above ground filters from Pool Express are from reputable brands like Hayward, Pentair and EcoPump.
