The swimming pool filter is used for water purification, and there are three main types to choose from: Diatomaceous earth (DE), sand, and cartridge filters. The cartridge filters at Pool Express are able to remove particulate down to about 8-10 microns in size. A cartridge filter’s efficiency is measured by its micron rating, meaning how many microns can pass through the filter. A micron is a unit of length equal to one millionth of a meter (1/1,000,000 m), or 0.0000394 of an inch.Unlike sand and DE pool filters, cartridge swimming pool filters do not require backwashing, a process that can waste a large amount of water and energy. Filters that use a cartridge media trap dirt and debris that pass through the skimmer basket and the hair and lint pot. The filter is ultimately responsible for crystal clear water.
System:3 Modular Media Filters handle 2-3 times more dirt than other filters to deliver maintenance-free performance for up to a full season. Featuring perfectly balanced flow and an integral manifold
As previously mentioned, a swimming pool filter’s efficiency is measured by its micron rating. To put this into perspective, a grain of ordinary table salt is about 100 microns, and the human eye can see down to about 35 microns without the aid of magnification. The lower the micron rating on the filter, the smaller the particles it can remove from the water.
These filters generally function the same way as other types of pool filters. After the water is pushed through the skimmer, it’s pumped through the filter tank and then through cartridge. Then the filtered water is returned to your pool. Keep in mind that this type of filter needs to be disassembled and cleaned regularly throughout the swim season. Even with a filter in place, you’ll still need to maintain your pool’s chemical levels with a proper sanitation system. A swimming pool filter is designed to only filter out small contaminants from the water, not sanitize it.
