Liberty

Cordless freedom with a three-year warranty behind it

The Dolphin Liberty 400 sits between the Liberty 300 and the Liberty 600 in Maytronics' cordless family. It cleans the floor, walls and waterline of inground and above-ground pools up to 33 ft in a 2.5-hour cycle, carries both a fine and an ultra-fine filter kit so you can match the filtration to the debris, and weighs under 18 pounds with the water drained. When the cycle ends, Click-Up lets you call it to the surface with a tap on the water rather than fishing for it.

Charging is inductive: a magnetic connector snaps on, with no exposed contacts to corrode. Advanced Eco Mode spreads a single charge over a week of short cycles so the robot can live in the pool between sessions, and the MyDolphin Plus app connects over Bluetooth while the robot is out of the water to set it up. Maytronics backs the Liberty 400 with a three-year warranty, a year longer than the 300. Pool Express is an authorized Maytronics dealer.

What the Dolphin Liberty 400 does

Floor, walls and waterline

Active brushes scrub the walls and the scum line, not just the floor, in a 2.5-hour cycle.

Click-Up pickup

Tap the water at the edge and the robot surfaces at the wall where you are standing, ready to lift.

Inductive magnetic charging

The charger connects magnetically with no plug to line up and no contacts exposed to water.

Fine and ultra-fine filtration

Two interchangeable filter kits in the box: fine for leaves and grit, ultra-fine for sand, dust and algae.

Advanced Eco Mode

Three weekly programs (40-minute, 60-minute or 30-minute sessions on a 48 or 72 hour rhythm) keep the pool clean for a week on one charge.

MyDolphin Plus app

Pairs over Bluetooth when the robot is out of the water to set modes and Eco schedules.

Dolphin Liberty 400 questions, answered

What is Click-Up on the Dolphin Liberty 400?

A sound-activated pickup. When the cycle is over, tap the surface of the water at the edge of the pool and the robot drives to that wall and surfaces, so you lift it without a hook or a cable.

How is the Liberty 400 different from the Liberty 300?

The 400 adds the MyDolphin Plus app over Bluetooth, an Advanced Eco Mode with three weekly programs instead of one, and a three-year warranty instead of two. Pool size, coverage, filtration, Click-Up and inductive charging are shared.

How do I set up the Dolphin Liberty 400 the first time?

Unpack the robot and remove the plastic wrap. Plug the charger into a wall outlet in the shade, connect it to the robot, peel the protective sticker off the power button and charge until the battery LEDs are all solid, which takes up to six hours. Unplug the charger, press the power button for less than four seconds, and set the robot in the pool.

Always charge in a shaded spot between 41°F and 95°F. While charging, the battery indicator blinks and steps up a bar at a time until all three bars are solid green.

What is Eco Mode on the Dolphin Liberty 400, and how do I set it?

Eco Mode lets a cordless Liberty stay in the pool for up to a week on one charge. On the Liberty 200 (2024 and later) and Liberty 300 it splits the battery into three 30-minute cleaning sessions with a 48-hour rest between them. The Liberty 400 has an Advanced Eco Mode with three programs: 40-minute floor-only cycles every 48 hours (three sessions), 60-minute cycles every 72 hours (two sessions) or 30-minute cycles every 48 hours (four sessions).

  • Charge the robot fully.
  • Press the power button to turn it on. Once the battery LED is lit, hold the power button for five to eight seconds until the LED blinks purple three times, then green three times.
  • Put the robot in the pool; it starts within 30 seconds.

To cancel Eco Mode, hold the power button for four seconds or connect the charger.

Why doesn't the Dolphin Liberty 400 respond to the app while it is in the water?

Cordless Maytronics robots, including the EON and the Liberty 400 and 600, lose their Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection as soon as they are under water. That is normal. Connect the robot to the app before you put it in, set the cleaning mode or weekly schedule you want, then place it in the pool and it runs the program on its own. When you lift it out, the connection comes back automatically. Corded Dolphins stay connected the whole time because the power supply on the deck does the talking. Note that the Liberty 400 pairs by Bluetooth only, through the MyDolphin Plus app.

What water chemistry does the Dolphin Liberty 400 need?

Balanced water. Too little chlorine lets algae clog the filters and starve the motor of flow; a pH above the recommended range stops the robot climbing walls. After a shock or flocculant treatment, wait 24 hours before the robot goes back in. Keep the water between 43°F and 95°F; below 59°F, climbing suffers.

  • Alkalinity: 80 to 120 ppm
  • pH: 7.2 to 7.6
  • Calcium hardness: 150 to 250 ppm
  • Free chlorine: 1.0 to 3.0 ppm
  • Cyanuric acid: 30 to 50 ppm

Saltwater pools are fine up to 5,000 ppm of salt. Rinse the robot with tap water after each cycle to stop deposits building up.

Can I leave the Dolphin Liberty 400 in the pool?

It is better to take it out after each cycle, empty and rinse the filters, and store it dry out of the sun. Models with a weekly timer or an Eco mode are designed to stay in for the week they are scheduled, as long as the water is balanced; clean the filter at the end of the week. Whatever the model, lift the robot out before anyone swims.

Are finer filters available for the Dolphin Liberty 400?

Dolphins ship with fine spring filters (about 100 microns) that catch leaves, twigs and grit. Many models also include ultra-fine filters (about 50 microns) for sand, dirt and algae, and some accept a super-fine insert that filters down to 30 microns. Use the fine filters for spring opening and heavy debris, and the ultra-fine set for everyday cleaning. Ask us for the replacement filter set that fits this model.

How do I register the Dolphin Liberty 400 warranty?

Register online at registration.maytronics.com with the robot's 10-character serial number and your Pool Express receipt. The serial number is printed on the box label, on the warranty card and on a barcode label inside the robot's housing. The form asks for the serial number, your details, the purchase date and store, and an uploaded receipt or invoice showing the date, product and price; then you agree to the terms and submit. Keep the confirmation with your receipt. Because Pool Express is an authorized Maytronics dealer, the full 3-year warranty applies.

Is the Dolphin Liberty 400 from Pool Express covered by the full Maytronics warranty?

Yes. Pool Express is an authorized Maytronics dealer, so every Dolphin Liberty 400 we sell is a new unit that registers with Maytronics for the full manufacturer warranty, and our Pool Pros handle any warranty question for you. Buying from an unauthorized seller can void that coverage, which is why Maytronics asks you to buy from a dealer. You also get our 30-day trial and low price guarantee.
