Reviews are written by our in-house pool professionals from hands-on testing. How we test
Robotic pool cleaner prices run from a few hundred dollars for a floor-only above-ground robot to well over two thousand for a commercial-grade machine with waterline scrubbing and app control. The price bands below use our live store prices, so a robot moves between pages when its price changes, and each page explains what you gain by spending a little more.

Under $700 buys a reliable floor cleaner for an above-ground or small inground pool, usually without a timer or waterline scrubbing. Between $700 and $1,000 you add wall climbing, MaxBin-style debris capacity and, on some models, a weekly timer. Between $1,000 and $1,500 is where most inground pool owners should shop: floor, walls and waterline, 60 ft swivel cables, weekly timers and app control.
Above $1,500 you are paying for commercial-grade motors, Multi-Media or ultrafine filtration, gyroscope navigation, remotes, caddies and 3-year warranties. Open-box and refurbished robots let you move a band down without giving up features.
For an above-ground pool, $500–$900 covers a capable robot. For an inground pool, plan on $1,000–$1,500 to get waterline cleaning and a weekly timer. Spend more only for commercial-grade motors, fine filtration and longer warranties.
Entry-level robots from Dolphin and Aquabot clean floors well and are far better than a suction cleaner. The trade-offs are no waterline coverage, basic filters and no timer, which means more hands-on time from you.
