The Dolphin Skimmi is the original solar robotic skimmer from Maytronics. It floats across the surface collecting leaves, bugs and pollen before they sink, steering around walls and obstacles with infrared sensors above and below the water, and it finds the sunniest part of the pool to top up its battery. Saved energy runs the night shift, when debris settles and nobody is swimming, which also takes load off your pump and filter.
It handles pools of any shape up to 65 ft and runs alongside a robotic or suction cleaner without getting in the way. The current model, the Skimmi 300, adds a six-litre basket, wall-washing edge cleaning, Eco modes, an external charger and the Maytronics One app with a three-year warranty; this original Skimmi carries one year. Does the Dolphin Skimmi clean the floor?
No. It cleans the surface only. Pair it with a Dolphin robot for the floor, walls and waterline; the two run at the same time without interfering.
What is the difference between the Skimmi and the Skimmi 300?
The Skimmi 300 adds a six-litre basket, wall-wash edge cleaning, three Eco mode settings, Leaf Capture and Edge-Free modes, an external charger for cloudy days, the Maytronics One app with a pick-up function, and a three-year warranty.
How does the Dolphin Skimmi charge?
Two ways. Its built-in solar panel recharges it in sunlight while it works or rests, and an energy sensor steers it to the sunniest part of the pool; the app shows the charging status. For cloudy days, winter and a guaranteed full charge, use the included external charger: the LEDs blink to show the level as it charges, light fully when it is done, then turn off.
What water chemistry does the Dolphin Skimmi need?
Balanced water. Too little chlorine lets algae clog the filters and starve the motor of flow; a pH above the recommended range stops the robot climbing walls. After a shock or flocculant treatment, wait 24 hours before the robot goes back in. Keep the water between 43°F and 95°F; below 59°F, climbing suffers.
- Alkalinity: 80 to 120 ppm
- pH: 7.2 to 7.6
- Calcium hardness: 150 to 250 ppm
- Free chlorine: 1.0 to 3.0 ppm
- Cyanuric acid: 30 to 50 ppm
Saltwater pools are fine up to 5,000 ppm of salt. Rinse the robot with tap water after each cycle to stop deposits building up.
How do I register the Dolphin Skimmi warranty?
Register online at registration.maytronics.com with the robot's 10-character serial number and your Pool Express receipt. The serial number is printed on the box label, on the warranty card and on a barcode label inside the robot's housing. The form asks for the serial number, your details, the purchase date and store, and an uploaded receipt or invoice showing the date, product and price; then you agree to the terms and submit. Keep the confirmation with your receipt. Because Pool Express is an authorized Maytronics dealer, the full 1-year warranty applies.
