Robotic Pool Cleaners for Sand, Silt & Fine Debris

Sand, silt, pollen and plaster dust are the debris you see as a dull haze on the floor and a cloud when you brush. A standard robot cartridge captures leaves and grit but lets much of the fine material pass straight back into the pool. The robotic pool cleaners here ship with NanoFilters, UltraFilters or Multi-Media fine filtration rated for those particles, so a cycle leaves the floor clean and the water visibly clearer.

Why fine filtration matters more than suction

Every pool robot has enough suction to lift sand off the floor. The question is whether the sand stays in the robot. A coarse basket or standard cartridge is a sieve sized for leaves and grit; the finest sand, silt and pollen pass through and settle again behind the robot. NanoFilters (Dolphin ProLine and Max-Series), UltraFilters (Clear S and Clear UV) and Multi-Media fine bags (Premier) are rated for particles small enough that the water leaving the robot is polished, not just vacuumed.

Fine filtration also protects your main pool filter. Material the robot captures never reaches the skimmer or pump, so a sand or cartridge filter runs longer between backwashes and cleanings. In pools near a beach, a construction site or a field, or after a dust storm, that is the difference between a clear pool and a cloudy one that needs floc.

NanoFilters

Pleated ultra-fine panels on the Premier, Sigma, Quantum and Max-Series robots, interchangeable with standard panels.

UltraFilters

Ultrafine filtration on the Clear S and Clear UV, paired with quad motors that keep suction up as the filter loads.

Multi-Media

The Premier swaps between a fine bag, NanoFilters, standard cartridges and an oversized leaf bag.

Easy rinsing

Fine filters clog faster by design; every robot here rinses with a hose in under a minute.

Robotic Pool Cleaners for Sand, Silt & Fine Debris: your questions answered

Will a robotic pool cleaner pick up sand?

Yes, and with fine filtration it keeps the sand in the robot instead of releasing it behind. Choose NanoFilters, UltraFilters or Multi-Media for a sandy pool; a standard cartridge or coarse basket passes the finest grains.

What is the difference between NanoFilters and UltraFilters?

Both are ultra-fine media. NanoFilters are Dolphin's pleated panels for the ProLine and Max-Series robots; UltraFilters are the ultrafine filters used in the Clear S and Clear UV. Each is rated for silt, pollen and fine dust.

Why is my pool cloudy after the robot runs?

The robot is stirring up fine debris its filter cannot hold. Switch to the fine filter, slow the cycle if the robot allows it, and run the pool filter afterwards. If cloudiness persists, test and balance the water.

How often do fine filters need cleaning?

After every cycle in a dusty pool, every two or three cycles otherwise. A packed fine filter reduces suction and wall climbing; a quick rinse with a hose restores it. Replacement panels and cartridges are inexpensive.
