Robotic Pool Cleaners with a Weekly Timer

A weekly timer is the feature that turns a pool robot from a tool into an appliance. Set it once on the power supply and the robot starts a cycle every day, every other day or every third day on its own, so the pool is clean on Saturday morning whether or not you remembered to run it. Every robotic pool cleaner here has a programmable weekly timer built into its power supply or app.

Why the timer matters more than most features

Robots clean best when they run often. A daily or alternate-day cycle removes pollen, dust and leaves before they stain or feed algae, and the filter never packs solid because each cycle handles a day's debris rather than a week's. In practice, robots without a timer get run when the pool looks dirty, which is exactly the wrong time; robots with a timer run before it ever does.

Dolphin's weekly timer lives in the power supply: choose daily, every two days or every three days, and the robot starts at the time you first set it. App-enabled models let you set the schedule from your phone instead. Leave the robot in the pool between cycles if you like, or lift it out when the weather turns; a timer and an anti-tangle swivel are the combination that lets you forget about it. The Premier adds a Media-Alert light that tells you when the filter needs a rinse.

Daily, alternate-day or every third day

Dolphin timer power supplies offer the three schedules most pools need.

Set once

The schedule survives between cycles; press start the first time and it repeats.

Pairs with a swivel

A robot left in the pool on a schedule needs an anti-tangle cable; most timer robots here have one.

App schedules

App-controlled models add custom days and times from your phone.

Robotic Pool Cleaners with a Weekly Timer: your questions answered

How does the weekly timer on a Dolphin work?

Press the timer button on the power supply to choose daily, every two days or every three days. The robot starts its next cycle at the same time of day you set it, and repeats until you change or cancel the schedule.

Can I leave the robot in the pool between cycles?

Yes, most owners do during the season. Choose a robot with an anti-tangle swivel so the cable stays straight, and lift the robot out for storms, shocking the pool or long breaks.

Which robots do not have a timer?

Entry-level models such as the Dolphin Escape run one cycle per start. They are fine for pools you clean on demand; choose a timer model such as the Cayman for automatic cleaning.

Is a timer better than an app for scheduling?

They do the same job. A timer is simpler and works without Wi-Fi; an app adds custom days and times, remote starts and alerts. Many robots here offer both.
