Reviews are written by our in-house pool professionals from hands-on testing. How we test
An infinity-edge pool is usually two cleaning environments: the main swimming vessel and a catch basin below the vanishing wall. A strong full-coverage robot can clean the main floor, walls and waterline, but it cannot safely drive over the edge into the basin. Large or high-use installations may justify a commercial duty cycle. Choose the main-pool robot here, then plan separate access for the trough or catch basin.

Navigation should recognize the vanishing wall like any other boundary and turn without crossing it, but the cable must not be routed across a spillway where flow can pull or chafe it. Follow the manufacturer's placement instructions and observe the first full cycle.
The catch basin often has shallow water, drains, grates and a narrow footprint. Clean it with a separate compatible unit or a handheld method rather than moving a large robot over the edge. For hotel or HOA systems running frequent cycles, compare Dolphin Wave models by pool length and service duty.
Use full wall and waterline coverage with strong navigation and cable control.
Observe the first cycle and keep cable away from the spillway path.
Plan separate cleaning; it is not part of the robot's automatic main-pool route.
Facilities need duty-cycle, cable-length and service considerations beyond backyard features.
A properly operating robot should sense the boundary and turn, but every custom edge is different. Supervise the first cycle and follow the manufacturer's guidance for unusual pool geometry.
Not automatically. The basin is a separate body of water and may be too shallow or obstructed; use a separately placed compatible cleaner or handheld method.
Not solely because of the edge. Choose commercial for pool length, heavy use and repeated facility cycles; premium residential robots can suit a normal-size private infinity pool.
