Reviews are written by our in-house pool professionals from hands-on testing. How we test
Rectangular pools are the most predictable layout for a robot: long straight lanes, clear wall transitions and four defined corners. That makes sizing and features more important than exotic steering. Match the robot to the pool's longest dimension, then choose floor-only, floor-and-wall or full waterline coverage and the filter that fits your leaves or fine debris.

Measure the inside swimming length and place the power supply near the middle of a long side where permitted. A 40 ft-class cable is suited to compact pools; a 60 ft swivel cable is the practical choice for many 40–50 ft inground rectangles.
Systematic navigation cleans a rectangle efficiently in parallel passes. If dirt remains in corners, check brush wear and filter flow before assuming the route is at fault; weak suction and worn tracks often prevent the final corner turn.
Use the longest inside dimension, including a connected deep end.
Mapped routes reduce overlap and complete straight floors efficiently.
Choose waterline coverage when oils and scale collect around the perimeter.
A rotating cable joint prevents repeated turns from shortening reach.
Choose by length and debris first. For a 50 ft inground rectangle, compare full-coverage models with a long swivel cable and the filtration your pool needs.
It will brush into most corners, but no round-bodied cleaner presses every bristle into a perfect 90-degree seam on every pass. Repeated mapped cycles improve coverage.
Not necessary, but it can keep long lanes straighter and reduce overlap in a large pool.
