Pool depth is rarely a robot's hard limit: a sealed cleaner works under water whether the deep end is 6 ft or 10 ft. The real challenges are the steep transition into the diving well, the extra floor area and cable reach from the power supply. The inground robots here climb walls, navigate slopes and have the coverage and traction needed for deep residential pools; maximum pool length remains the specification to verify first.

A robot's pump moves water through the filter and its tracks provide traction; it does not lose vacuum the way an air-lift device would. A clean filter and healthy brushes matter more than depth. On a steep hopper, mapped navigation helps the robot cross the break from shallow to deep without repeating one lane.
Measure the full pool length, not the depth, when checking cable reach. Place the power supply near the midpoint of a long side as the manual allows, and choose a swivel cable for a robot that will make many turns across a diving well.
A robot that can climb a vertical wall can handle the normal slope into a deep end.
Systematic routes reduce missed lanes around a hopper or diving bowl.
Reach the far deep-end corner without accumulating cable twist.
Restricted flow reduces wall and slope grip before depth itself becomes an issue.
Yes, for normal residential depths. Manufacturers usually rate maximum pool length rather than depth because the robot is sealed and operates entirely under water.
A wall-climbing robot with clean filters and unworn tracks should handle a normal pool transition. Very sharp ledges or unusual construction can still interrupt the route.
Not because of depth alone. Choose commercial when the pool is longer than the residential rating or runs under a heavy facility duty cycle.
